Part 2: Math, Science, Social Studies, History, Geography, and Fine Arts

Using good “living” books, this class will instill a love of learning and a desire to read. It will open the doorway that leads to personal growth and an appreciation for the wonders of the world surrounding us. Join me on an adventure that uses chapter books to open the door to Math, Science, Social Studies, History, Geography, and Fine Arts.

Each week, students will be required to complete the following homework assignments:

  • Bring the book to class. (We will be using the same book as in Part One)

  • Read (may listen to an audio book, but must own a copy of the book) three chapters of an assigned quality children's literature book.

  • Come to class prepared to discuss what they have read.

  • Complete any handouts or assignments given the previous week.

Class time will consist of using the material in the book as a springboard to completing various activities and discussing various topics. Each week will focus on one - three different subjects that relate best to the content of the chapters read during the previous week.
